About Us
Community Charity Services (CCS) was founded in 2003 as an authorized distributor of Loblaws gift cards. After 23 years, we are now an authorized distributor for all major grocery retailers, enabling us to help charities and community groups across Canada raise funds without asking donors for out-of-pocket donations.
In 2013, the Canada Revenue Agency authorized CCS to issue a charitable tax receipt for the directed funds from the Eat2Give fundraising program. This means not only is the Eat2Give program a no-cost fundraiser, but the subscriber/donor also receives a tax credit for purchasing groceries with Eat2Give gift cards. It is the only fundraiser of its kind in Canada.
How Eat2Give Works
Loblaws was the first grocery retailer to introduce the declining-balance bar-code gift card in 2000. It was designed to replace the collection of grocery receipts, which offered 1% of the total amount to charities. Within 2 years, all national grocery retailers followed Loblaws (including Sobeys, Metro, Save On, and Longos). All are offering a 5-6% bulk discount to incentivize charity groups to fundraise this way.
CCS distributes the Eat2Give gift card directly to donor/subscribers on behalf of the charity clients, who net 3% after processing and credit card fees. A $250-a-month Eat2Give gift card subscription generates a $90 annual donation to the participating charity and a $150 charitable tax receipt for each subscriber/donor.
